Midwest championships were a “breeze” for the ladies in pink over the weekend. Dry, but extremely breezy conditions, persisted through the day on Saturday causing a 2 hour delay in the middle of the day. The JV8, JV4, Novice 8, Lightweight 4 and Lightweight 8 all qualified for finals on Sunday. What an accomplishment for all of our rowers to even row through such rough conditions.
Some very tired rowers left Harsha Lake to enjoy a late evening Pink Party with their very tired coaches.
Mother's Day greeted the rowers with sunny and moderate temperatures making for nearly perfect rowing conditions. The JV 4 and Lightweights 4 and 8 all qualified for Nationals to be held May 22-23 in Princeton, NJ. Way to go Ladies! Stay tuned to Regatta Central during race days. You can watch live coverage of each race on your computer in real time. (Not the clearest pictures but still exciting to watch.)
One of our dads (Dave Coyle) found this interesting bit of info regarding NDA's performance over the weekend: This link shows that NDA Crew finished 5th overall in the team standings at Midwest.
Uniform for sale: Senior Bethany Klett will be graduating shortly and will no longer be in need of her spandex at college. (I can't imagine why!) Big Red (Dennison) doesn't include blue, gold, or pink in their colors. Contact the Klett's if you're interested in purchasing her uniform.
Rowing Jewelry: Many have been asking about rowing jewelry. If you google Rubini Jewelers you will find a wide selection of crew related items you can order.
Mudhens: We are in need of more workers this Friday night. Remember we receive a $250 bonus just for working!! Contact Julie Lach at jlach@bex.net if you are able to help us out! We are also in need of 3 more people for the day game on May 29. Word has it that this is a very fun game to work. Talk to your boss about getting some time off on the 29th.
Annual Rowing Mayhem Day: Our annual rowing mayhem day will be held this Saturday down at the boathouse. This is a fun day for the rowers to switch positions in the boat and to race against each other. Please note that there will not be any other teams there. Just the Ladies in Pink. It's a great time for families of rowers to watch the fun and join in the crew spirit. Perhaps Grandpa and Grandma haven't been able to make it to a regatta. It's a great chance for them to see the rowers in action, what the boats look like (up close and personal) and to tour the boathouse. Festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. Plan on things tying up around 12 or 12:30. Here's the best part: Food will be provided. You don't even have to bring a thing! See you then!
